Zubimendi Makes Clear Stance Amidst Liverpool Interest
Martín Zubimendi, a midfielder for Real Sociedad and Spain, stated he has no regrets over declining a summer transfer to Liverpool.
Liverpool’s first choice in defensive midfield was the 25-year-old, but despite their protracted pursuit, Zubimendi chose to stay with the team he has played for his whole career.
La Real has only won two of its first eight La Liga games this season, which has been a challenging start for them.
Nevertheless, Zubimendi hasn’t changed his mind about staying at the club despite their lacklustre performance.
“I can’t think that way after four or five games at the beginning of the season, so of course I don’t regret it. I didn’t care about the outcome; I made my decision because I felt it was the right one.
All you have to do is watch us practise to see the potential in this team. I’m looking forward to a successful season,” he remarked.
“Things always come up in the end, just like in every transfer window. It was my time this summer. These are inevitable events, and you must respond to them as effectively as you can.
Although I must admit that I was a little uneasy about everything, particularly the noise, I ultimately made the right choice.”
Following his compatriot’s season-ending injury last month, Zubimendi has been mentioned as a target for Manchester City in the January transfer window due to the way he easily filled the Rodri-shaped hole.
The Real Sociedad midfielder, nevertheless, quickly refuted those rumours and reaffirmed his intention to stay in San Sebastián. “You can all rest easy in winter,” he stated.
“My guiding principle is to always act on what arises from the inside out. For me, everything has gone smoothly thus far.
“Yes, there was a lot of commotion throughout the transfer window. I experienced uncomfortable times. Staying here has been the finest decision for me, and I’m content and at peace.”
