You don’t really need a PC to download and play PSP games on iOS devices. So let’s see exactly how to download PPSSPP games on iOS devices without a PC.

Part 1: Download PPSSPP App

  1. Firstly, download these apps: Files App and Unzip App  
  2. Go to the PPSSPP website on your browser and download the PPSSPP App.
  3. After downloading, install the app and close the browser and once the app is installed, launch it.
  4. If this “Untrusted Enterprise Developer” pops-up on your device, then, you have to allow the device install the app by granting permissions from the Settings of your device.
  5. Open the “Settings” App on your iOS device
  6. Go to “General” and tap on “Profiles & Device Management” – the unconfigured profiles are listed in the end, click to open it and read whatever the screen says and tap “Trust”.
  7. Now, go back to the Home Screen and open the PPSSPP App.

Part 2: Download PPSSPP Games

After downloading and installing the PPSSPP Emulator app, the app will be empty and you will have to download the games you want to play from the Browser.

  • The first thing to do is to open the CoolROM website on your browser
  • Next, apply filters or search for the games directly from the CoolROM website and select the game you want to download.
  • Now tap “Download Now” to start downloading and in the URL section, click on the “download icon” to track the progress.
  • After the download completes, open the file
  • Next, find the “Open” in Unzip option or tap on the “More” button and scroll down to find the “Open in Unzip.
  • Click on the “Zip file” and open the folder
  • Click on the game you’ve downloaded and choose “Save to Files”
  • Next, select On My iPhone or iPad and then tap on the PPSSPP folder
  • Now, look for the symbol which says “Create New Folder” on the top-right corner of the screen before the Save Option and create a new folder with the name Games
  • The new folder you created will then appear under the PPSSPP folder
  • The next step is to open the PPSSPP app on your iPhone or iPad and select the “Games tab”
  • Tap on the Games folder on the main screen and select the game you’ve downloaded
  • In case the game crashes, then re-launch the PPSSPP app and navigate to the Settings
  • On the Settings app, choose tools and then tap developer tools to change the CPU core to IR interpreter.

How to Save & Backup PPSSPP Games on iOS devices
