Richardson Leaves Colt Game In Second Quarter Due To Injury

Due to a hip injury, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson will not play against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After a 14-yard rush, the second-year quarterback—who is making a comeback from a season-ending shoulder injury that kept him out of four games last year—took a hit to his right hip area and instantly grasped his side.

He lay down on the ground for a few while before getting up and making his way unaided to the sidelines.

Richardson missed two plays while recovering from his injury, and after a few minutes he was back in the game, with veteran Joe Flacco filling in.

However, with 3:58 left in the second quarter, Richardson took a big hit from Steelers defender Minkah after carrying the ball one yard on his first play back on the field.

After that, Richardson exited the game once more and went back to the team’s locker room with the medical staff. Early in the second quarter, he came racing out of the tunnel, looking eager to go back into the game and with his helmet strapped on.

However, he was never added back into the match, and a few minutes later, he was declared out. Richardson’s early career has been significantly impacted by his health.

Before suffering a season-ending AC joint injury in his right (throwing) shoulder, the 2023 No. 4 pick had a concussion that prevented him from playing in a game during Week 3 of the previous campaign. Richardson had a flawless start to the first three games of 2024.
