Grand Prix: Sales Ticket Experience ‘Spike’ As Verstappen Struggles

Bobby Epstein, the chairman of the Austin circuit, claims that since Max Verstappen started winning so frequently, ticket sales for the U.S. Grand Prix increased.

One of the most anticipated races on the Formula One calendar, the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) race is scheduled for October 21.

The next round of the championship between Verstappen and Lando Norris, who has been gradually making his way back into the race after winning his first Formula One race at the Miami Grand Prix in May, will take place there.

“I think we’re in good shape coming up to this grand prix, although the route to get here was a little bit different this year from a fan standpoint, in that our ticket sales really took off when Max stopped winning, and it got more competitive,” Epstein stated.

I therefore think highly of our audience and fan base since they are incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and tuned in. And I think it’s fantastic to see the season shape up the way it is.”

Verstappen, who won a record 15 races in 2023, has only won once since the race surrounding Hard Rock Stadium.

With two sprint races remaining, one of which is in Austin, his lead has shrunk to 52 points.

Last year, during the course of three days of track action, over 420,000 spectators visited the circuit. The sprint style of this year’s event means that spectators may expect to witness more competitive sessions.

Two major extra selling elements for COTA’s forthcoming event are the Texas-Georgia game on Saturday night at Longhorn Stadium and an Eminem concert at the circuit. Epstein anticipates that both will lead to a sizable attendance.
